I’d heard about this place from a few people, and we were in the area on Saturday night so we decided to try it out.
There was a 35 minute wait, so we put our name down and they said they would text us once our table was ready (fancy). The hostess recommended the bar next door as it was cheap – sold.
It actually turned out to be a great recommendation because you got a free individual pizza with every drink. I know we were going for dinner but, come on, free pizza.
Once our table was ready we were seated at the back on a long table meant for a couple of parties (think Wagamamas).
The specials board was right next to our table which was convenient. I had my eye on the beef mac and cheese…
When you sit, you are presented with laminated menus and pens to make your selection.
This is an intense process…
Which resulted in a pen fight..
But then back to making important decisions.
I went for the spicy pork meatballs with spaghetti on the side, and an Old Cuban cocktail.
And a jello shot. Because why not.
Other cocktails we ordered were Gin Fizzes, which actually turned out to be something else.
The jello shots were pretty strong.
But then the food arrived so we forgot about that and dug in.
It looks small but trust me it was a big portion. Everything was smothered in cheese (dreamy).
Emily ordered two meatball sliders because she is a weakling with a tiny stomach.
Look at that cheese.
The meatballs were heavenly. Seriously, so good. The right amount of spice, smooth texture and a tomatoey cheesey sauce.
I told you Emily was a weakling; she only managed one slider. One.
I on the otherhand was ready for dessert. Same menu process. Pick your cookie flavours and your ice cream. I had chocolate brownie and walnut, chocolate chip and vanilla ice cream.
I finished it with a teeny bit of help from Emily.
Definitely recommend this place. They don’t take bookings, but it’s worth the wait. They have a couple of other locations in NYC too.
