In search for somewhere to have a mini team Christmas lunch, we stumbled across the Murray hill diner on 3rd avenue. Unassuming and a little run down from the outside, it’s a quintessential American diner.
Inside it was everything you could want from a diner. Cosy, busy and everything looked like it was from the 60s. So we sat down and perused the giant menus.
We ended up ordering 3 turkey burgers and a hamburger. So original – but hey, you’ve got to stick to the diner classics. Lauren couldn’t wait so she just started day dreaming about her food.
The service was extremely fast and efficient, exactly what you need on a lunch break. The food arrived, and it was huge.
The turkey burger was juicy and a great bun to meat ratio (so important). The chips were freshly cooked and it was served with a giant pickle which is my favourite. Awesome. No complaints.
The best part was the cheque – it seems like its the prices and not just the decor that were out of the 60s.
$9.65 for a giant burger, fries and a drink is basically unheard of in midtown. Amazing.
Definitely would go back, maybe for breakfast as it would be perfect for a hangover.
