be original, but only when you’re popular.

It’s a bit annoying when you read something that says ‘write something original, be the only one, find a twist, don’t be the same as everyone else’. I mean, fair enough, there are about a billion blogs on cupcake making and street fashion, but how do you get your blog noticed if you’re talking about something that other people aren’t? Do you cop out for a few posts and write about what’s trending, or do you stick it out and hope you get noticed among the very massive amounts of masses? 
 
Seth Godin may be all about finding your Purple Cow, but who is going to see it in a herd of purple elephants?
